Overview

Heavy Interdictors (Hictors) are cruiser-sized Interdictors with HAC resists. They have much higher skill requirements to use their special bubble module, the Warp Disruption Field Generator, which cycles a bubble around the Hictor ship at a skill-based radius. This module also has a script that focuses the field into a 30km infinite point (at Heavy Interdictors V) which can tackle supercaptials.

When activated, the warp disruption field generator prevents remote assistance, increases the signature radius of the ship and reduces the effectiveness of afterburners and microwarpdrives. It has a 16km base range, which is increased by 5% per level of Heavy Interdictor skill to a maximum 20km. The module has a 30 second cycle time.

Heavy Interdictors are only produced from invented blueprints, making them both expensive to acquire and to replace (due to poor T2 insurance).

Recommended Skills

  • Heavy Interdictors IV
    • Weapon Upgrades V
    • Spaceship Command V
  • Racial Cruiser V
  • Graviton Physics IV
  • Propulsion Jamming V

(As of Rev III, the Interdictors skill is neither required nor beneficial for Heavy Dictors to use. This may change in the future.)

Aggression Behaviour of the Bubble

The bubble on the H.I. acts in a similar fashion to usual Interdictor bubbles. Despite early misconceptions the bubble does not have a strength of 1, it is infinite, so stabs will not help you. Here are the specifics of the interactions:

The two types of aggression are 'gate' and 'logoff'. 'Gate' aggression lasts for 30 seconds and will prevent you from jumping through gates or docking at stations. 'Logoff' aggression will keep your ship in space for 15 minutes after the aggression is triggered, so don't log off in a hostile system or you'll get scanned down. 'Logoff' aggro is also given with 'gate' aggro, but not the other way around.

  • You are flying a H.I. and drop a bubble.
    • Bubble drops, you don't get any aggro.
  • You are flying a H.I., drop a bubble and another player tries to initiate warp from within the bubble.
    • You get 'gate' aggro and 'Logoff' aggro
  • You are flying a H.I. with the bubble up and you try to warp.
    • No aggro, you just get message telling you that your bubble is interfering.
  • You are flying a H.I. activate your bubble, then try to jump through a gate.
    • You jump immediately and the field is deactivated.
  • You warp to a gate with a H.I. bubble on it. The bubble goes up after you enter warp.
    • You will arrive at the gate, in the middle of the bubble. Neither you or the H.I. will receive any aggro unless you subsequently try to warp off instead of jumping through the gate.
  • You warp to a gate with a H.I. bubble on it. The bubble is up before you enter warp.
    • When you arrive on grid with the H.I. your warp will be stopped at the edge of the bubble. Neither you or the H.I. will receive aggro from this.
  • You jump into a system with a H.I. bubble on the gate and try to warp.
    • Your warp will be cancelled and you will receive 'logoff' aggro. The H.I. will receive 'gate' aggro and 'logoff' aggro.
